Congratulations Marianne (and all graduates)!!

Congratulations to Marianne Cline (pictured all the way to the left) for graduating from High School tonight at California (Missouri) HIgh School. Marianne is a faithful Oddwalkian and a dear friend. She is heading off to Truman State University this fall and we'll certainly miss having her around all the time.

Incidentally, if you've ever wondered what a high school graduation would sound like with twenty-one different air horn blasts, be sure to get your tickets for the 2008 Graduation Ceremony at California High School. Nothing says, "I'm proud of your academic achievement" quite like an air horn.

Congratulations to Marianne and all graduates this spring. Good Luck and God Bless!

  1. Even though I have no real reason to go to any more graduations in California I think I will go and set up a booth and take bets on the number of air horns sounded off during the ceremony. Apparently this would be a lucrative business, care to invest?

  2. At first I thought it would be great to have someone blast an air horn for me...then I saw the kind of people that had air horns and the people who got an air horn salute and I thought "Wow. I'm glad no one I know got an air horn." I guess will just have to leave the air horns for my college graduation!

  3. OK. I actually have NO idea what anyone is talking about with "air horns" and all that because I go to school in Bunceton. I have a friend that goes to school there and her mom teaches there. Tanecia Walker is the teacher. Anyway! Congratulations and best of luck! Only 1 year to my HS graduation!

  4. To give you a reference, an air horn sounds similar to the really loud buzzers in between quarters of a basketball game. I believe they come in cans much like household cleaning products, but instead of making everything smell fresh, they just make a really, really loud honking sound.

  5. Yeah, I know what an air horn is, (where can I get one???) but what's with the "air horn salute?" That's the part I don't get. Why were you glad you didn't actually get one Marianne??? I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

  6. Air horn salute was just was just a fancy name I made up...when they called people's names people would just blast air horns and cheer. And I was glad I didn't get an air horn salute because I would have been embarrassed...especially with all the slightly obnoxious hooting and hollering that came along with it, lol!

P.S. I had Mrs. Walker for government and psychology when I was a junior...she's pretty cool.

  7. OK. OK. Got it. Thanks. I thought that maybe it was something like that, but the way you said it I thought that maybe there was a little more to it. Yeah, Mrs. Walker is pretty cool isn't she?? I like her. :D I've seen her classroom a couple times. She gets pretty excited around the holidays (**Halloween!**) doesn't she? Hee! Hee! I've been at her house a lot, too. Her daughter (Shelby) and I are good friends.
